what the "Kerry`s
Eye" says
about us
We used O' Keeffes Marquees for a function for 150 people in August last based
in the grounds of Tralee Rugby Club.
What we were looking for was one company to supply as much as possible and
with the expert help of Dan Joe O' Keeffe and O' Keeffes Marquees , the organisation
of the event was made very easy.
Tables, delph, seating, table cloths as well as the most luxurious marquee
added a very special atmosphere to the evening and created the impact we wanted
when the guests arrived.
For an event that needs something special , I would highly recomend O' Keeffes.

A full hotel banquet, lavish seat covers, and charger plates, accommodation
for all your friends and family - it`s all getting a bit much.
Some people are beginning to feel that hotel weddings are simply a waste
of money. Many feel that a wedding in a marquee in the back garden with
only 100 guests would be much more intimate. Surprisingly, it`s also more
expensive.
However, the reasons for having a marquee wedding, even though it is more
expensive, are self explanatory.
"If it`s done properly it`s more personal," says Michael Sherry
of "Marquees Over Ireland". "You`re not being kicked
out at one o`clock. The standard hotel wedding doesn`t have the individual
traits that a marquee celebration can have."
"You can do what you want in a marquee, right down to the furnishing,"
he continues. "You can have chill-out areas, dance floors, or
decorations on the ceiling. You can do more in a marquee than i a hotel."
Of their high price, DJ O`Keeffeof "O`Keeffe Marquees`says: "People
who enquire often think it`s cheaper, and that`s our relationship over.
However, if someone says, "I want something different," then
we know where we`re going after that."
Companies such as DJ`s and Michael`s provide almost everything for
the big day, including caterers, audio-visual equipment, generators,
toilets, tables and chairs. "We try to do everything we possible can, right
down to matchmaking," says DJ jokingly. One great aspect of a
marquee wedding is the lack of constraints. If it`s a party of 50 or
300 the marquees can be modified to fit all of your guests and whatever
extras you might need.
While most marriages in Ireland take place in churches, civil marriages
and blessings are becoming increasingly popular. Happily, if they opt
for a marquee, the bride and groom may choose the location where they
wish to be wed. It could be in their back garden, the grounds of a hotel,
or even on their favorite beach.
Most hotels have the capacity to hold the wedding party within their walls,
however, often a marquee will be erected in the grounds either for the
civil part of the marriage or for a pre-reception blessing. Within celebrations
at hotels the marquee are often used for a champagne reception room or
even as a comfortable smoking section outside of the reception, including
as they do heaters, tables and chairs.
While the idea of having your wedding outdoors is a romantic and exiting
idea it`s always wise to remember that due to our "soft" Irish
climate there is always the chance of rain. However, with the right
contingency plan in place the whole celebration can go off without
a hitch.
It is simply important to remember that if it does rain their must be
sufficient room to house all of your guests, musicians, caterers and equipment
either indoors or under the marquee itself. With the right amount of storage
room, the reception will go on unscathed.
It is also prudent to plan well before your wedding. Marquee suppliers
often have bookings for more that two years in advance. You should approach
them early on with a detailed plan of exactly what you will need from
them. Also many companies will refer you on to other suppliers such as
florists, caterers and musicians. It`s best to meet up with all of these
parties individually to make sure that their services will suit your needs.
DJ believes "it`s a sign of the changing times in Ireland that marquee
weddings have become so popular." He remarks: "Marquee weddings
have been going on in dublin for half a century, but they`ve only really
arrived in Southern Ireland in the last few years." By all accounts,
as more prospective couples seem to be envisaging a lower-key and more
intimate wedding, marquees look set to continue to grow in popularity.

what
"The Kingdom" Newspaper says about us:
.........the
team of wedding and function experts will supply and organise everything
from dance floor to transport, including a stretch Limo, or for diehard
romantics, that all-important horse-drawn carriage.
........not
only that, but the company will sort out stages, wedding videos, wedding
stationary, photos, portable bars and lightning.
Supplying
dance floors are another area in which the company specialises, while
Dan Joe and his team also provide red carpets, candelabras and candles
for ceremonies and functions.
O`Keeffe´s
Marquee Hire catered for a wedding that hit the international headlines
back in june 2004. The daughter of John F Kennedy, Caroline Kennedy-Schlossberg
was among the guestsattending the open-air marriage of her friend Elaine
Diane Kennelly and Alonzo Church Assion. The ceremony took place overlooking
the sea Kilmackillogue Harbour on the Beara Peninsula, outside Kenmare,
on Saturday. Dan Joe and his specialist team suppliedd the specially constructed
marquee, on Kilmackillogue Pier, where the 100 guests celebrated. The
lavish ceremony went on long into the night and each of the guests had
a hand-painted stone emblazoned with their Christian name as a table setting.
The Rathmore
company also organised the perfect day for a wedding contingent from Chicago
who tied the knot by the sea in Dingle last year.
Over the years,
O`Keeffe`s Marquee Hire has notched planty of experience catering for
weddings at unusual yet scenic spots such as the Gap of Dunloe and Sherkin
Island.
At the moment,
they are looking forward to helping organise a Greek-style wedding later
this year in the west of Ireland.
what
the "Irish Daily Mirror" Newspaper says about us:
O`Keeffe has it covered
Ever think about doing things a little differently. New laws allow us
to get married wherever we want, so why not take advantage of
them and have your wedding in the beautiful outdoors.
Marquee style weddings are becoming increasingly popular and a massive
marquee is the way to go. Think about it, cut out the worry of booking
a hotel for the reception, choosing the perfect meal and making sure the
mother-in-laws aren´t seated next to each other.
O`Keeffe Marquees will look after all, from the chairs and tables, to
the delf and cutlery. They even provide wedding parties with lighting,,
heating, floorings and cateres, leaving you with little or nothing to
worry about except enjoying your big day.
O`Keeffe Marquees has been specializing in traditional marquee functions
for a number of years and that as well as the overall beauty of a
marquee and a desire to be different the introduction of the smoking ban
and the banning of children from pubs after 9pm has boosted the business.
In the past people have been of the opinion that marquees are hugely expensive
and only for the upper class in society but this theory couldn´t
be more wrong. A marquee simply offers a unique alternative to traditional
weddings.
what
the "Kerryman" Newspaper says about us:
Ever considered breaking with tradition and hiring an elegant marquee
for a special day? Well if so then you´re not alone, according to
Rathmore´s, O`Keeffe Marquee Hire, who says that the idea is now
becoming extremely popular.

When it comes to providing alcohol for the function, O`Keeffe Marquee
Hire explained that the most common procedure is for the couple to assign
their own publican for the function, with the caterers setting up the
bar itself within the marquee. New regulations mean that pub owners can
now transfer their licence for a function such as this which has means
a great boost for the industry. That makes it ideal for a couple to ask
their local publican to operate the bar on the day.
The same applies to decorating the marquee, with the couple`s own florists
taking on the responsibility of dressing the guest tables and top table
for occasion.
If, however, you would rather leave all this to a professional, your very
own wedding planner can be assigned to take all the pressure off the wedding
day.
If you`re worried about cost, O`Keeffe Marquee Hire explained that there
are packages available to suit all budgets, with your chosen décor,
delf, cutlery, lights and even tables of chairs all adding to the overall
cost.
